SHOSHIN FOR ACTORS
SHOSHIN is a Japanese word meaning Beginner’s Mind. It invites the practitioner to experience a playful, emotionally intelligent, open-minded attitude to learning - even when working as an experienced practitioner.
Jeremy suggests that by letting go of right and wrong, concern, judgement, and pre-conceptions, and by returning to a state of 'Beginner's Mind' truthful engagement is readily attained and dramatic advancements more easily realised.
In this workshop Jeremy introduces the concept SHOSHIN for ACTORS. The work will be non-academic, practical, philosophical, and physically engaging. This is not a text-based course, but script may sometimes be used. The course will help you develop, build, and sustain greater knowledge and understanding of what it is to act with greater confidence and integrity, perhaps redefining your definition of acting for screen and stage. There will also be discourse and Q&A.
This unique and intensive course looks to -
Advance your acting skills and enhance your ability to communicate more freely, authentically, and appropriately on stage and off.
Prepare for and commit to auditions and casting with less nervous anxiety and greater authenticity and ease.
Let go of old habits and pre-conceptions that may be holding you back.
SHOSHIN FOR ACTORS invites you to come away from what you think you know. And, instead, to engage in a playful, reassuring, sometimes challenging process: thereby increasing your chances of personal and professional success.
Please wear loose comfortable clothes you can move around in. Please note video, audio or other recording of this course is strictly prohibited unless by prior agreement with Jeremy Stockwell. All content remains the intellectual copyright of Jeremy Stockwell.
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's mind there are few.
