Join us for an engaging and in-depth casting workshop led by Shakyra Dowling herself.

This session offers actors the chance to gain first-hand insight from one of the UK’s most respected casting directors, whose work spans feature films, television drama, and high-end independent projects. Shakyra will watch each participant perform a piece from carefully selected scripts and provide practical, honest and constructive feedback, along with adjustments in real time.

Actors will leave with a clearer understanding of what Shakyra is truly looking for in the room from preparation and presence to instinct, connection and professional approach.

This workshop provides footage - The recording is intended for reflection and to support the workshop, rather than for use as professional material.

Bio:

Shakyra Dowling is an award-winning Casting Director and founder of Shakyra Dowling Casting. She is a fierce champion of emerging and diverse talent, with projects that have received nominations and recognition at the BAFTAs, BIFAs, Sundance and TIFF.

Recently released work includes Wolf directed by Nathalie Biancheri, starring George MacKay, Lily-Rose Depp and Paddy Considine, which received worldwide distribution with Universal Pictures.

Her recent casting work also includes the Swedish biopic Hammarskjöld directed by Per Fly and produced by Patrick Ryborn for Unlimited Stories, starring Mikael Persbrandt in the lead role; and BFI-backed The Occupant directed by Hugo Keijzer, with Ella Balinska in the lead role.

Shakyra also recently worked on Peter Greenaway’s latest untitled feature and Last Swim directed by Sasha Nathwani, with attachments including Solly McLeod and Narges Rashidi.
