Join us for an in-depth, practical workshop with Poppy Apter, centred around scenes from The Little Foxes by Lillian Hellman - a true classic of 20th century drama.
Working on this rich, psychologically layered text, actors will explore the demands of heightened language, status, subtext and power dynamics that define much of the great American canon. This session dives into one script, making it an ideal vehicle for examining precision, intention, and emotional control in performance.
Across the three hours, Poppy will guide participants through:
Approaching classical 20th-century text with clarity and specificity
Navigating status shifts and power play within scenes
Making bold yet grounded character choices
Honouring language while keeping performances alive and contemporary
Practical audition technique for classical and period material
Individual feedback and adjustments
This workshop is designed to help actors refine their craft while gaining insight into how casting professionals assess performances on stage particularly when it comes to well-known, text-driven material.
An excellent opportunity for actors looking to deepen their work on classical repertoire while sharpening their audition technique in a supportive, focused environment.
