About William:

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

William Trotter‎‎ works with voice and its relationship to language as a creative component of both the actor's development and the rehearsal process. He works face-to-face, on shows and in workshops . He has worked with actors of many levels of experience, established names and people in the early stages of their careers. His individual clients have worked at the National, Royal Court and the West End. The theatrical work, including at Arcola, BAC, Finborough, Royal Court, Lyric Studio, Menier, New Diorama, Park and Riverside Studios, involved supporting actors whose experience has been in films to find voice for the stage, pre-rehearsal and pre-performance warm-ups, as well as audibility and vocal tension. He started and leads ‎‎On Voice‎‎, the regular voice-text sessions of Actors Guild GB sponsored by Spotlight, and started and developed the Actors Center Shakespeare Speaking Laboratory. Workshops conducted at the Actors Centre included‎‎ The Character's Voice Search‎‎, ‎‎The Vocal Truth for Stage and Screen‎‎, ‎‎Multicultural Shakespeare‎‎, ‎‎Working Words‎‎ and ‎‎Working‎‎ ‎‎Shakespeare's Words‎‎. He has directed workshops for Escape Artists, Graeae, Mind the Gap, Magic Circle, The Royal Scottish Conservatoire, for the actor-director workshop of the Tamasha Theatre and for the Theater Arts Group in Bucharest. Non-actor work has included work with presenters from China Radio International, ITN Factual, and LBC. The theater schools he has taught at include ArtsEd, Central, Drama Center, East 15, and ‎‎LAMDA.‎‎ He trained at Central, Bristol and Exeter Universities and was on the British Voice Association's training working group. ‎
