We are delighted to welcome back to Spotlight Layke Anderson who is currently working at Dan Hubbard Casting.
Following an introduction from Layke, the audition process — including common bad habits (and how to iron them out), taking direction, and nerves/vulnerability will be discussed.
Prior to the workshop Layke will send out a selection of scenes for members to prepare. These will consist of a mixture of side options from existing material, but also from works that Layke is currently involved with.
Each actor will read their scene and then Layke will provide feedback, giving ideas and insight, before offering the opportunity to read again. A camera will be used for observation during the class.
Finally, Layke will answer any questions you may have about the industry including, but not limited to, his casting process, showreels, contacting Casting Directors and how to give yourself the best opportunity at the audition.
Layke has been a Session Director for Dan Hubbard since 2018, and has previously worked as Casting Assistant for Ros and John Hubbard, Maureen Duff, Kristina Erdely and Gail Stevens.
Outside of casting, Layke is a BIFA nominated and BAFTA-long-listed filmmaker, whose short films have collectively screened at over a hundred international film festivals and won several major awards. He is currently midway through shooting his first feature film, the cast of which features some actors he met through Actors Guild workshops.
Recently Layke worked as the S.A. Director on the new Francis Lee film, Ammonite.
Having previously worked as an actor (beginning in his teens), his filmography includes work with Danny Boyle and Richard Attenborough.
**Please note all contact or questions regarding this workshop should come through the TAG office. Please do not contact the workshop leader directly with questions**
