Emma Sylvester is working in-house at the BBC in it’s continuing drama department and works assisting John Cannon & Stephen Moore on Holby City.
Casting for Screen aims to demystify the process of auditioning for screen, to simplify and build confidence while honing your audition technique for screen auditions.
In this online workshop, Emma will send out one scene to self-tape 4/5 days before the class. You can choose either character, ignoring any references to gender. This is solely about character. You will submit two takes of the scene by WeTransfer or Vimeo.
There will then be a live Zoom session where each self-tape will be shown to the whole class and Emma will give her feedback live. There will be time at the end for a Q&A.
The deadline for the selftape is 10.00am on 21st June, with the live Zoom feedback and Q&A meeting on 21st June, 6-9pm.
All self-tapes to be uploaded to Emma's Dropbox link which will be supplied with your sides.
Emma began her career in casting doing favours for her friends, casting independent short films, music videos and corporate gigs, an actor herself at the time she found herself getting immersed in the work and launching a new career path which combined her love for actors and her training as one.
She went on to cast short film ‘The Snow Maze’ with RSA films (Ridley Scott Associates) which has since won best UK short at the London Film Festival and went on to assist renowned casting director Carolyn McLeod on a series of independent feature films and projects for Netflix. Emma also assisted Casting Director Nancy Bishop in 2018’s NBC pilot season.
Emma is now working in house at the BBC in it’s continuing drama department and works assisting John Cannon & Stephen Moore on Holby City.
