We are delighted to welcome back Royal Shakespeare Company Director Owen Horsley, for this fantastic 3 day workshop!!

This 3-day workshop moves away from the typical speech work and gives actors the opportunity to get their teeth into a scene (or two). Over the course of this workshop we will examine the scenes in depth and provide a safe space for everyone to fully explore and be brave.

We will approach the scenes through a number of exercises that cover language, rhetoric, movement, stakes, character and staging - all of which will give you new and varied ways to approach a scene in Shakespeare. We will revisit the scenes multiple times and each time new layers and methods will be added. There is no pressure to learn the text but as always the more familiar you are with the language the more in depth the work can go.

We will focus on a collection of 2 hander scenes and one ensemble scene.

DAY ONE - On the page - finding clues on the page that help with character and  scene work

DAY TWO - Move the scene - working with a partner/groups to explore dynamic and staging

DAY THREE - High stakes - moving towards the heightened nature of the scene and combining our work on language, movement and character.
