We are delighted to welcome back Royal Shakespeare Company Director Owen Horsley, for this fantastic 3 day workshop on Shakespeare’s problem plays - All’s Well that ends Well, Measure for Measure and Troilus and Cressida!!

This 3-day workshop tackles the 3 plays of Shakespeare that are often referred to as his problem plays. This collection of plays is characterised by their complex and ambiguous tones and their stark shifts between tragedy and light comedy. It is their refusal to fit the mould that makes them both challenging but also extremely exciting to explore. Engaging in these plays provides an opportunity for actors to make bold choices and forces them to  reassess their ideas of character, tone and motivation. This workshop will analyse all of these plays through Shakespeare’s use of verse, language, rhetoric and scene studies. Owen Horsley has worked on each of these plays throughout his career with Cheek by Jowl and The Royal Shakespeare Company.

This will be a practical workshop that will improve your knowledge of the plays, reveal new characters and scenes for future work and equip you with an approach to classical text that is immediate, useful and fun.
