This workshop is designed for anyone who would like to explore a speech and have it noted and worked on with Suzy Catliff.  Useful to either keep the creative juices flowing and active, or as part of ongoing training or before an audition. This workshop is designed to aid creativity and allow you to inhabit and enjoy the journey of exploration within given circumstances.

Suzy is an experienced director and casting director, with many showcases and productions behind her work as well as being on the first round panel for drama school auditions.

During this 3-hour Zoom workshop, you will discuss your casting choices for the imagined scenario below and working as part of a group, you will then all listen and observe the speech chosen by each member of the class to perform.

AN IMAGINED SCENARIO:  Two plays are to be cast for a medium scale tour of theatres in the UK.

Julius Caesar in a reimagined, non gender specific version

A contemporary play (TBC) which will run in repertoire with the Shakespeare.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO:

Choose which role or roles you think you might be cast as in the Shakespeare and why.  Also, cast yourselves in a contemporary piece of your choice (written in the last five years)

Think about how the roles might compliment each other and give you the opportunity to explore your ‘range’.  Make sure one of them pushes you outside your comfort zone and will be a challenge.

Choose a speech either classical or contemporary – your choice – which supports your casting choices for the roles you would like to play.  The speech CAN be from Julius Caesar if you wish.

Please email TAG in advance of the class, with the 2 speeches you have chosen and which one you will perform.
