Date: November 12th
Location: Actors' Guild Hub at Spotlight, 7 Leicester Place, London, WC2H 7RJ
Time: 14.00 - 17.00
In this masterclass actress Carolyn Pickles (Broadchurch, Harry Potter, Vera) will work with you on accessing the presence and simplicity of truthful screen acting, using exercises designed to free oneself from nerves and the tendency to 'overwork'. Carolyn played Maggie Radcliffe in all 3 seasons of Broadchurch and is currently with the Radio Drama Company.
You will then extend those techniques and apply them to scripts - so that you can access the simple truth of the character whilst in a casting situation.
Scenes will be filmed and played back in the workshop. This can be incredibly useful as a lot of actors don't know how to go about preparing for a camera audition, let alone get the opportunity to see theirs back.
Carolyn will send out short scenes (having seen your Spotlight CV) 2 or 3 days before the workshop to be learnt.
Carolyn has worked extensively as an actress in Film, TV, Theatre and Radio.
Most recently she was at The Globe with Emilia, by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm which transferred to the Vaudeville Theatre for a very successful run earlier this year. She was also with the Radio Drama Company until January 2019.
Carolyn's numerous TV credits include MotherFatherSon (BBC) Vera (ITV), Broadchurch (ITV), Land Girls (BBC), Midsomer Murders (ITV), Kingdom (ITV), Joe's Palace (BBC/HBO Stephen Poliakoff), Foyles War (ITV), Lewis (ITV), Bremner Bird And Fortune (C4), Emmerdale (ITV), Fathers and Sons (ABC/Fox), Poirot (Carnival), Holby City (BBC), Coronation Street (Granada), Preston Front (BBC) and Casualty (BBC) amongst many others.
Film work includes Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows (David Yates), The Spy Who Dumped Me (Susanna Fogel), The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus (Terry Gilliam), Ali G - In Da House (Mark Mylod), Tess Of The D'Ubervilles (Roman Polanski) and Agatha (Warner Brothers, Michael Apted).
