MAKING SOLO WORK
London's first Face to Face Festival of Solo Theatre runs from July 9th - 22nd at the LOST Theatre London with a varied programme of performances. The schedule will feature both experienced professionals and exciting new solo performers discovered via workshops and submissions. This workshop offers a fantastic opportunity to work with Colin who is directing and Jeremy Stockwell who is both teaching and performing at the festival
For many actors the thought of making a solo appearance on stage, or in front of a camera, is both exciting and terrifying. And yet, every time you stand up and audition you are giving a solo performance! In both cases you are inviting the audience to see you in a very honest, vulnerable and open state. You are testing your talent and your nerve. Thought of in this way it may well be worth confronting the fear and trepidation of stepping out into the spotlight alone, harnessing your unique talents as a creative artist, and developing the skills and techniques necessary to make your own solo work.
Solo theatre tests the courage, faith and powers of any actor. It can also increase your confidence in your own abilities for solo, ensemble, and all other performance work.
This course develops over four weekly sessions. It offers you the skills and techniques with which to make your own solo work. It will help you develop ideas, content, structure, character, narrative, physical engagement, and script.
A solo theatre piece can provide you with a portable and effective showcase for your own unique and particular talents. Solo theatre has low over-heads and, if marketed correctly, it can also provide you with a reasonable source of income.
