Date: October 11th
Location: Actors' Guild Hub at Spotlight, 7 Leicester Place, London, WC2H 7RJ
Time: 14.00 - 21.00
In this 6 hour masterclass actress Carolyn Pickles (Broadchurch, Harry Potter) will work with you on accessing the presence and simplicity of truthful screen acting using exercises designed to free oneself from nerves and the tendency to 'overwork'. Carolyn plays Maggie Radcliffe in Broadchurch Seasons 1 & 2 and is currently filming season 3!
This workshop is designed for members who have taken Carolyn's 3 hour workshop as well as those actors who are new to this class.
You will then extend those techniques and apply them to scripts - so that you can access the simple truth of the character whilst in a casting situation.
Scenes will be filmed and played back in the workshop. This can be incredibly useful as a lot of actors don't know how to go about preparing for a camera audition, let alone get the opportunity to see theirs back.
Carolyn will send out short scenes (having seen your Spotlight CV) 2 or 3 days before the workshop to be learnt. Carolyn also asks that you also bring a very short monologue you know. You should be off book for this too if possible - they really don't need to be long - 20 seconds is fine.
Carolyn has worked extensively as an actress in Film, TV, Theatre and Radio. She will start filming the next series of Broadchurch shortly.
Carolyn's numerous TV credits include Broadchurch (ITV), Land Girls (BBC), Midsomer Murders (ITV), Kingdom (ITV), Joe's Palace (BBC/HBO Stephen Poliakoff), Foyles War (ITV), Lewis (ITV), Bremner Bird And Fortune (C4), Emmerdale (ITV), Fathers and Sons (ABC/Fox), Poirot (Carnival), Holby City (BBC), Coronation Street (Granada), Preston Front (BBC) and Casualty (BBC) amongst many others.
Film work includes Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows (David Yates), The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus (Terry Gilliam), Ali G - In Da House (Mark Mylod), Tess Of The D'Ubervilles (Roman Polanski) and Agatha (Warner Brothers, Michael Apted).
