VENUE: Craven Street Rehearsal Rooms, 10 Craven Street, WC2N 5PE. 3 HOURS: 18.00 - 21.00 With theatres in the West End and the regions now using actors with puppets to tell narrative, puppetry is not only in vogue but also becoming an essential part of an actors skill set. This 3 hour masterclass offers members the opportunity to work with Roman Stefanski who has worked with puppets on hundreds of shows - to show you how to bring them to life and work with them as an actor. Participants will start by understanding what puppetry is, then look at some object manipulation and character movement. The workshop will finish with some improvised sketches. Although skills can be transferred to other puppet forms we will mostly be using glove and rod puppets for this workshop. This workshop not only aims to provide a practical foundation but also offer an insight into the wonder of using this media and promises to be great fun! Roman has worked for over 32 years with actors and puppets. He is Associate Director of Polka Theatre in Wimbledon and, as well as being a master with puppets, is also highly skilled in mime and skin work. As well as directing over 60 productions Roman also works as a puppetry advisor to many companies as well as teaching in some of the UK's leading drama schools.
