We are very pleased to welcome Sophie Kingston-Smith, who is Casting Associate for Rose Wicksteed for her first workshop for TAG.
Casting for Screen aims to demystify the process of auditioning for screen, to simplify and build confidence while honing your audition technique for screen auditions.
In this online workshop, Sophie will send out prepared scenes for you to self-tape 4/5 days before the class - we will send your Spotlight CV to Sophie so that she can tailor the scene to suit you. You will submit two takes of the scene by WeTransfer or Vimeo.
There will then be a live Zoom session where each self-tape will be shown to the whole class and Sophie will give her feedback live. There will be time at the end for a Q&A.
The deadline for the selftape is Thursday 9th July at 10am, with the live Zoom feedback and Q&A meeting on Friday 10th July, 10am-1pm.
All self-tapes to be sent to The Actors Guild: mail@actorsguild.co.uk
Sophie started casting featured roles as assistant to Gabrielle Dawes in 2015, working for the Chichester Festival Theatre, before moving into commercials casting with Thomas Adams and finding her way into film and television, working with Casting Directors including Lucinda Syson, Karen Lindsey-Stewart and Kharmel Cochrane. She has spent much of the last three years working as Associate to Rose Wicksteed, whilst pursuing her own projects, and was also Associate to Alex Johnson on ITV's period drama Beecham House.
Her most notable projects have been with Rose and include TV series Genius: Picasso, (National Geographic), comedy series The Great (Hulu) and UK casting for Homeland series 8 (Showtime). Films include The Nun (Warner Bros) and Escape Room (Sony). She was also Casting Director on two short films, Lynch (Oxygene Films) and Mr Whippy (Elation Pictures), and was UK Co-Casting Director with Rose on upcoming Fox miniseries The Dropout.
