We are very excited to welcome Robyn Paterson (The London Meisner Company) To TAG for this fantastic workshop in authentic Meisner technique.

Do you feel like you’re stuck in your head when you’re acting, or can’t seem to stop thinking? Do you feel like you’re always trying to get the scene right? Or perhaps you can’t seem to feel any kind of truthful emotion at all?

The Meisner Technique is regarded as theatres best kept secret to help actors get out of their heads and to stop thinking and start listening specifically by following their impulses and instincts.

The first half of this 3 hour workshop will be centred around introducing students to the fundamental elements of Meisner and how the technique helps actors avoid common mistakes in auditions and drop bad habits of showing, demonstrating and acting. Actors will then be given the opportunity to get up and play the Word Repetition Game which is the integral baseline of Meisner and forces actors to become specific in their listening.

There will then be a Q A at the end of the workshop.

Robyn Paterson has worked in theatre, film and television for over 15 years. She graduated from The Unitec School of Performing and Screen Arts in New Zealand and then studied the Meisner Technique for three years before moving to New York, USA and studying at The Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre, otherwise known as The Meisner School.

She has been teaching acting for nearly ten years and founded The London Meisner Company in 2018.

Past and present members of The London Meisner Company can be seen in Ready Player 1, The Book of Mormon, Maleficent and will be appearing in His Dark Materials.

She currently lectures on Meisner at Mountview Academy, Kingston University, Royal Holloway University, Roehampton University. She will be teaching the Meisner Technique at East15, Italia Conti, Drama Studio London and also be running an intensive acting programme at The National Film and Television School inJanuary 2020.

Actors do not need to prepare anything for the workshop but need to bring water, a notepad and pen.
