In this practical workshop Casting Director, Jim Arnold will share a wealth of experience and offer personal insight and advice. Following a brief chat from Jim at the beginning, he will give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have before inviting you to read. Actors will be sent sides from a selection of plays Jim has recently cast and offer feedback to give you a steer and ideas on how you can improve your audition performance. This part of the workshop often throws up points about the casting process which everyone in the group can take advantage of. Jim is the Associate Casting Director for Pippa Ailion Casting, where he has worked on the casting for several West End musicals including 'Charlie & The Chocolate Factory', 'The Book of Mormon', 'Top Hat', 'Billy Elliot', 'The Lion King' and 'Wicked'. As Casting Director his work also includes: 'The Rest is Silence' for dreamthinkspeak, 'Crave' by Sarah Kane and 'Illusions' by Ivan Viripaev for Actors Touring Company, 'DNA' by Dennis Kelly for Hull Truck, 'Yerma' by Federico Garcia Lorca, in a new adaptation by Anthony Weigh for The Gate Theatre in Notting Hill, 'Pericles: Re-'imagined' at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, 'Lingua Franca' at the Finborough Theatre & 59East59 Theatres in New York, 'Hortensia and the Museum of Dreams' at the Finborough, 'Fragile!' and 'Le Mariage' at the Arcola and 'Artist Descending a Staircase' at the Old Red Lion. He was also the Original Casting Associate on 'Matilda, the Musical' for the RSC in Stratford-upon-Avon. Jim was the Casting Assistant at the RSC for 3 and a half years, as well as assisting several Casting Directors in TV, film and theatre including Sam Jones, Andy Morgan, Sarah Crowe and Rosalie Clayton. He is a member of the Casting Director's Guild of Great Britain. Please Note: The presence of a Casting Director is not a guarantee or promise of employment.
