Katy Schutte - Artistic Director of award-winning improv company The Maydays brings this fantastic workshop for those who find the thought of improv scary!

No matter how good an actor you are improv can be daunting. When you don't get a script and you're expected to be funny, to try alternative lines or create a character in the moment, your fear may cost you the job. We'll be working on enjoying 'failure', learning to love improvisation and the freedom it gives us without feeling exposed or under pressure. 

You will be learning the building blocks of improvisation in the safety of pair and group games. In the last part of the session we will be trying a few things out in front of an audience.

Katy also teaches at Hoopla, the UK's biggest improv school and tours Europe and the US with improv shows and classes. Katy's book The Improviser's Way: A Longform Workbook has just been published by Nick Hern Books. Katy is also a theatre-maker, actress and comedian. You can see her in various commercials, improvising live with The Maydays, Project2 and Knightmare Live or in BAFTA-winning series History Bombs.
