We are excited to welcome Director Jeff James for a brand new 3 day workshop. Jeff is currently developing projects with Manchester Royal Exchange and Nuffield Southampton.
Using Ibsen's play The Master Builder, Jeff will work with members to explore the ways that character, situation and intention can be unlocked using modern impovisational techniques.
Together we'll examine and analyse different scenes from the play, and use this to construct improvisations that develop the world of The Master Builder.
We'll then go back to the scenes and see how that work can inform the different choices you make as an actor. This aproach will allow you to find what is most contemporary and exciting in this late nineteenth century play.
Jeff James’s recent credits as director include Persuasion at Manchester Royal Exchange, La Musica at the Young Vic, Stink Foot at the Yard, and One for the Road / Victoria Station at the Young Vic. His credits as writer include Persuasion (with James Yeatman) and Stink Foot. He has also worked as associate director on six of Ivo van Hove’s productions, including A View from the Bridge, Lazarus, The Crucible and Hedda Gabler.
