With two mighty protagonists, thirty five messengers, forty two scenes and nearly two hundred entrances and exits, Antony and Cleopatra stands as the daunting zenith of Shakespeare's achievement.

Simon Godwin's new production of Antony & Cleopatra by William Shakespeare, with Ralph Fiennes as Antony, is now planned for later in 2018 at The National Theatre.

This workshop sets out to map this incredible tragedy.

What do Rome and Egypt represent today?

How is gender portrayed and how it can be recalculated for now?

How can you act the heights of love, and desire the play demands?

How do the most beautiful lines Shakespeare ever wrote gain a relevance without sacrificing their epic, timeless power?

Combining Simon Godwin's playful, exhilarating approach, this workshop is a fantastic chance to combine classical technique with a bold, provocative re-imagining of the crown of Shakespeare's canon.

Please bring a copy of Antony and Cleopatra with you (and if you are not familiar with the play please read it!).
