Date: July 19th

Time: 18.00 - 21.00

Whilst the Casting Director may be seen as the gate keeper, the Director more often than not decides if you get the job or not... In this practical workshop Director Sarah Esdaile will work with you on several aspects of auditioning - from making bold choices to being able to truly listen to a director's notes - and act on them there and then.

You will work on how to make the maximum impact when you have minimum preparation time, as well as facilitating the most fruitful possible chat about the script.

You will work on how to really be in the moment and trust your instincts whilst in an envirmonment you can only really gage once in the room.

Each participant will have a practice audition, focusing on whatever aspect of the process they like. The thorough feedback is what most participants value.

The workshop aims to provide an invaluable and practical set of tools and guidelines that can be immediately implemented and a new perspective on the whole process of auditioning.

To get the most out of your time, read and prepare to audition for a part in either Richard III, The Crucible or The Beauty Queen of Leenane.

Sarah's recent credits include the 40th Anniversary production of Abigail's Party (Theatre Royal Bath & Tour), Walking with Egg Shells (for Birmingham Rep / Park Theatre), BFG for the Octagon Bolton, Talking Heads for Theatre Royal Bath and Tour, Single Spies at The Rose, PAXO - a one man show with Jeremy Paxman at The Pleasance Edinburgh and DENY DENT DENY at the Park Theatre.

Other credits include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof for the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Sleeping Beauty for Birmingham Rep and The Lady in the Van (Hull Truck and Number One Tour). She has directed The Deep Blue Sea, the world premiere of Crash by William Nicholson, Death of A Salesman and The Grouch, all for West Yorkshire Playhouse where she has been an Associate Director.
