A number of Matthew’s productions have employed Viewpoints, a physical improvisation technique which grew out of the postmodern dance world. Since that time, Anne Bogart and the SITI Company (Saratoga International Theater Institute) have expanded the original notions and adapted them for actors. The Nine Viewpoints allows a group of actors to function together spontaneously and intuitively and to generate bold, theatrical work quickly. 

 

Viewpoints develops flexibility, articulation, and strength in movement and speaking, and makes ensemble playing a reality. This class will be a practical introduction to the Viewpoints method.

 

For RET, Matthew has directed Into The Woods, Wish List and Brink. Matthew’s other work includes: Blue/Orange (with David Haig, Daniel Kaluuya & Luke Norris), The Sound of Yellow and Sizwe Banzi is Dead for the Young Vic, I Was Looking at the Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky, Aladdin, The Blacks, and Cinderella at Theatre Royal Stratford East and Scrappers for the Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse.
