A practical workshop to offer guidance in approaching new or contemporary texts, led by one of the UK's most experienced and respected Casting Directors.

Ginny's casting on contemporary drama includes Richard Bean's Smack Family Robinson as well as six new American plays. Ginny has cast for numerous other writers including Joe Penhall, Lizzie Nunnery and Laura Wade.

Scenes will be allocated the day before the workshop, based on your Spotlight CV, and the whole play will be emailed - please ensure you have time to read it in advance!

Feedback about how to improve your preparation or audition technique will be offered and there will be discussion of general dos and don'ts for auditions.

Everyone will have the chance to participate and, time allowing, there will be an open Q&A at the end. 

Ginny has been a freelance casting director since 2001 and although her main focus has always been theatre, she has also cast television, film, radio and commercials.  She has worked in-house for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Chichester Festival Theatre, Rose Theatre Kingston, English Touring Theatre and Soho Theatre and returned to the RSC in 2005/6 to lead the casting for the Complete Works Season.  She has cast productions for independent commercial producers as well as the subsidised sector, for the touring circuit, regional, fringe and West End venues, including the Almeida, Arcola, ATG, Birmingham Rep, Bolton Octagon, Bristol Old Vic, City of London Sinfonia, Clwyd Theatr Cyrmu, Frantic Assembly, Greenwich Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Headlong, Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse, Lyric Theatre Belfast, Marlowe Studio Canterbury, Menier Chocolate Factory, New Wolsey Ipswich, Norfolk & Norwich Festival, Northampton Royal & Derngate, Oxford Playhouse, Plymouth Theatre Royal and Drum, Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, Shared Experience, Sheffield Crucible, Sonia Friedman Productions, Theatre Royal Bath and Ustinov Studio, Theatre Royal Haymarket, Touring Consortium, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Wilton’s Music Hall, Young Vic and Yvonne Arnaud.
