Location: Third Floor, London Scottish House, Mount Street, Manchester M2 3NN
Time: 10.30am-5.30pm
Back by popular demand, Nick Bagnall, Associate Director at Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse will lead a 1 day workshop on the selected works of Sarah Kane.
Sarah's uncompromising work evoked widespread controversy. Her first play Blasted was billed by the Daily Mail as "this disgusting feast of filth". Cleansed is the only play of hers ever to have appeared at the National and this only in 2016. 4:48 Pyschosis, described by her friend and fellow playwright, David Greig, as having as it's subject a psychotic mind, was completed shortly before she took her own life.
This will be a group workshop working with the texts and will provide an opportunity for honest feedback and direction in a supportive environment.
Please read Cleansed, Blasted and 4:48 Psychosis and bring a copy of each play to the workshop.
Nick's work includes: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Odyssey: Missing Presumed Dead and The Electric Hills for Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse; The Last Days of Troy and Britannia Waves the Rules for the Royal Exchange, The Two Gentleman of Verona, Henry VI pts I, II & III for Shakespeare’s Globe, Fragile for the Belgrade Theatre, Betrayal at Crucible Theatre, A Separate Reality for Royal Court, Billy Liar for West Yorkshire Playhouse,Entertaining Mr Sloane for Trafalgar Studios, Burning Cars for Hampstead Theatre, , Mongoose for the Assembly Rooms and Promises and Lies, Bolthole and Low Dat for Birmingham Rep.
