Renowned director Chris Honer returns to TAG with a day-long workshop on high-comedy, bringing the expertise and insight that has gained him repeated critical acclaim.
Noel Coward is one of the great comedy writers of the last century but is it all just clipped accents and cigarettes? This fun and practical workshop is a chance to develop your comic skills by working on two of Coward’s most successful plays, Private Lives and Hay Fever. We’ll explore how to nail the art of sophisticated comedy through simply playing an objective and the subtle handling of text.
Please bring along copies of Private Lives and Hay Fever.
Most recently Chris has directed Pygmalion for Oldham Coliseum and Humble for the sell-out run of JB Shorts 15. Chris was the Artistic Director of the Library Theatre Company which, during his twenty year artistic reign, won over forty Manchester Theatre Awards with Chris himself winning a Special Achievement Award in 2014. His productions there include The Seagull, Private Lives, Hard Times, Measure for Measure, The Life of Galileo, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Things We Do For Love. He now freelances as a director and teaches in both London and Manchester.
