Location: Friends Meeting House, 6 Mount Street, Manchester
Time: 11.00 - 17.00
We are very pleased to welcome Nick Bagnall, Associate Director at Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse for whom he has directed the critically acclaimed A Midsummer Nights Dream (currently running). Other recent work has included the world premiere of The Last Days of Troy and the Bruntwood prize winning Britannia Waves the Rules both for the Royal Exchange Theatre.
This workshop is a chance for those with a good understanding of Shakespeare to dig into the guts of a new speech. Please bring a monologue of approx 15 lines. Nick will work with you to get to the insides of the speech and will use exercises tailored to each individual to explore the work. Be prepared to work physically.
Please bring a copy of the speech and be off book.
This will be a group workshop and will provide an opportunity for honest feedback and direction in a supportive environment with one of the UKs best directors.
Nick has devised and led workshops for the Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre, Liverpool Playhouse, Birmingham Repertory Theatre and West Yorkshire Playhouse. He has previously directed for Shakespeare’s Globe (Henry VI pts I, II & III), Belgrade Theatre (Fragile), Crucible Theatre (Betrayal), Royal Court (A Separate Reality), West Yorkshire Playhouse (Billy Liar), Trafalgar Studios (Entertaining Mr Sloane), Hampstead Theatre (Burning Cars), Liverpool Everyman (The Electric Hills), Assembly Rooms (Mongoose) and Birmingham Rep (Promises and Lies, Bolthole and Low Dat).
